Being unruly, Pupin wasn`t interested only in science. He was interesed in social problems, too. When he came to Pancevo he enjoyed Srebian youth who protested against the impery.

Eighteen years old Mihajlo participated on demonstration on May 1st 1872. and there was a chance to be expelled from the school. But, many important people managed to avoid this, so he stayed at school till the end of the following year, and then he was sent to Prague.

Respected citizen of Pancevo and Mihajlo`s friend Prota Vasa Zivkovic, and many of his proffesors thought that it would be good and useful for young Mihajlo to leave, because this was the way to stop his wild ideas and direct him to the science. After his mothers convincing, father konstantin agreed with this decission

This trip was atrue adventure for young Mihajlo. After many days of travelling by steamship, on which his baked goose his mother made him was stolen, he arrives in Pest, the biggest city he had ever seen! Then he gets a train for Prague, but since he was very tired he had fallen asleep
and missed the station in Gasendorf (the city of geese). He was very surprised seeng the train stopping at Vienna the next morning. Here, he was arrested, then questioned and tortured. Thanks to one good old couple who gave him the money for the new trip, Mihajlo is saved from this and he could get to Prague.

When he arrived in this city, he foun the same partition in his new school, just as it was at the old one. When they realised where did he came from, German students started ignoring him, while the Czech ones became his friends. He met great promoters of panslavism Riger and Palatski Mihajlo continued with his national activities and propagand. He didn`t study a lot.
