Education-Pančevo

School Book in which Mihajlo was signed by number 60, in the year of 1868/69.
|
His father Konstantin was
a simple man and he didn't think that Mihajlo should leave
the village, especially because he was the only male descendant
in the family, and that he should take care of the household
in the future. He thought that Mihajlo should be a border
guard, just like his old man. But, mother was the one
who helped her son, convincing the father to send the
boy to Pančevo. |
This new world
Mihajlo stepped into left strong impression on him. He
discovered new teachers and their lectures, which showed
him how many opportunitis he, talented sheperd from Idvor,
can have! When he heard his physics professor Slovenian
Simon Kos telling the story about the man from the country
far away, American Franklin, who used simple kite to make
a research about thunders and lightenings, he got a completely
different picture of the world! It seemed unreal to him!
|
Many other lectures in the
school, induced Mihajlo`s curiousity and made his free
spirit more scientific.
Being thrilled with all new things he learned, Mihajlo
tried, while spending summer in Idvor, to describe all
that to his family. |

Benjamin Franklin - American inventor
|
But, his knowledge and experience
became too big for his surroundings. He spent summer as
a sheperd, which was a great responsibility, because the
cattle could be lost ina minute in all those corn fields,
or, which could be even worse - it could be stolen and
lost forever.

School in Pančevo during Mihajlo's education
|
This is why the boys who were incharged
of this during the whole day, had to find a sygnal as
a way of comunication so that they would be protected
from thieves. |
This is why they used a method
similar to Morses code - the alphabet made of spots and
lines, but simpler, which helped them to take care of
the cattle.
This method helped one of these boys to make possible
communication of people on all continents, 25 years later.
Pupin became a true genius, because he started to ask
confusing questions to his professors here, too. Of course,
he never did this because he wanted to compete with them,
or to disrespect their knowledge, those questions were
simply thoughts of one excuisite young man who was deeply
interested in the nature, light and sound.
|
Answres to his questiones
Mihajlo looked for in the laboratory and in lyrics of
Njegoš and Ljermontov. He was looking for a connection
between the world of science and the world of art, discovering
small facts which were telling about the same thing
- the world around us.
