After his
doctorate in Berlin, Pupin spent four decades working
as a lecturer on the Columbia university, or precisely
since 1889 till 1929. Besides his lecturing he established
modern laboratory for physics experiments. "There
is no science without the experiments", he used
to say to his

students. "Believe only in things
that you see!"
He experimented also with the X-rays, which were discovered by Rentgen, in December 1895. Pupin assumed that every thing which is exposed to X-rays spreads those same rays from itself. This is how he discovered secundary X-rays. |
The most signifficant contribution
to the modern rendgenology is that he made the proccess
of taking down with x-rays , to last for only a few seconds.
|
During the years of his improving,
Pupin had a chance to meet with both European and American
science, especially mathematics and physics. While studying
on Cambridge and in Berlin, he found out the differences
between English and German science-schools, and he met
many French scientists, too: Laplas, Lagrange, Furie,
Amper, Arago, Fuko, and others. |
Years after, he used to meet the most signifficant scientists and inventors every day. As a contemporary of Nikola Tesla, Pupin lived for 46 years in the same city as he did-New York.
His friendship and collaboration were well-known. |

Pupin was one of those scientists
who used their authority to stand up for Tesla's alternate
electricity and show it`s practical importance.
Pupin always had a respect for the contemporary scientists:

Mihajlo Pupin and Albetrt Einstein on March, 15th
1933.

"Meeting with the work of the great
people gives one a stimulus to make something new and
good for the humanity" -Pupin said thinking of Tesla.
"A great man is different from the regular one for
the intensity of the impressions got from his surroundings,
to his sence. Then he is the man of the excitement and
inspiration" - he said when he met Albert Einstein. |
